Need a Good Engine rebuilder [Houston area]
Hi guys, my friends work van is having some issues, sounds like it could be minor or major from what he's saying. May be a bad lifter or could be some other internal problems.
Either way, he's looking to pull the intake if he can without removing the motor & maybe check it out. He's not that experienced of a wrench though so he may not even know the problem if he sees it.
He's got an Astro Van & I think they have the 4.3 V6 engine.
He lives up around Spring & I'd like to get some good places to refer him to. He took it to one shop & they were just telling him to get a long block & it would be $4k...that seems a bit excessive honestly, especially for an engine as simple and abundant as the GM 4.3.
For now I advised him to take it to a GM dealer so they could give him a more accurate diagnosis & then go from there. I know a lot of the mom & pop shops don't deal with specific brands/autos enough to know them well & also don't have the same diagnostic capabilities as the dealers.
Thanks!
