Default Rebuild Motor Questions

Ok so im wondering what would be better/more bang for the buck. Should I rebuild the stock LS1, buy a crate motor, or something else?

*edit* if i do rebuild what should I do, Im a newb to this.

I dont want to spend to much, somewhere under 5grand.
Any ideas, and also what is a repitable{sp} shop in the DFW area? Or Texas for that matter?

-thanks in advance

The real question is what do you want out of the car?

Rebuilding it with better parts is a good option. If you need some help or a good contact to rebuild what you need done and to last give me a PM. He has a excellent track record.
