Default Which TV would you recommend?

Im curently looking 2 different Tv's. With the first, I would get 1080p but only get 46". On the second, its 720p but its a 50". And before anyone knocks the Polaroid, I have the 32" model in my bedroom and love it (720p).

Go with Samsung, Sony or if you got cash floating around Pioneer. I install high end TV's and HT for a living, I deal with them on a daily basis. 1300 may sound great for a 1080P tv, but your better off coughing up some more and get a good 1080P tv.

Wow I cant believe I missed that one. Panasonic is rated very high as well, and personally I find them very good TV's on which HD looks amazing. The new models, I guess 07 or 08, are cleaner then last years, because they are flat black. My personal top 5 would be
1 Pioneer (Elite series if you got Donald Trump status)
2 Sony LCD (46" or 52" XBR3 )
3 Samsung (46" LCD or 50" plasma)
4 Panasonic ( I think the new models only go up to 50" so far)
5 LG/Sharp/Hitachi ( These, IMHO, are very similar and very good for 720P tvs. You are able to get the sharp in 1080P, but your better off going with any from 1-4 if you want a sweet TV)

Now dont quote me on this, all of this is MY HONEST OPINION. I hook up TW HD, Direct TV HD, Dish Network HD and starting now also AT&T HD. There is absolutly no talk of any networks broadcasting 1080P in the next years, being that broadcasting 1080i raises the price already. If your sole purpose for 1080P is for gaming/blueray, stay away from Plasma's. LCD or DLP is the way to go. You can pick up a bad *** samsung 1080P dlp (50-60" range) for the same price as a decent 40-46" (sony, samsung, pioneer) 1080P lcd.

What I'm trying to say is, 1080P is great, but it shouldn't play to great of a factor in buying a TV unless you are a blueray fanatic. But do keep it in mind, maybe 5, 6 year down the road ( lol if your plasma lasts this long...) 1080P might be more of a every day thing. I hope it helps, feel free to ask.

Unless you absolutely HAVE to hang your TV, I would highly recommend looking at DLPs. I purchased a Toshiba 56" DLP for $800 at Bestbuy back around the new year and it was the best purchase I ever made. I bought a HDMI cable and I swear I could see every pimple and bead of sweat on LBJ's face last night... It's AMAZING and the only knock is that you can't hang it...

I would say that's plenty big as that's about what my Apt was when I bought my 56" and while at first it was hard to get used to, after about a week I got adjusted and didn't notice

We have a 32" Samsung LCD flat in the bedroom. It's great!! Thinking of the bigger Samsung LCD for the gameroom upstairs. LCD is the way. I think it last much longer than Plasma and no bulbs to replace either.

Only problem with an LCD is it's life span (from my understanding) is 10 years and costs 500-800 more then a DLP. A DLP will last forever, you just have to replace the bulbs every 3 years and they cost $200. So up front your saving money with the DLP, in 8 years you'd break about even, and at the 10 year mark, your LCD is dead and your DLP is still running strong... Again this is just my understanding from what the rep at BB said.

A samsung bulb is not $200. Its closer to 400, and then you need to get it installed. This is not like switching out the dinner table light. If you do decide to go with DLP, BUY THE DAMN EXTENDED WARRANTY. The plan comes with one free bulb replacement and installation. The warranty cost is based on the price but it isnt over 400 bucks. This alone will cover you for the bulb replacement. On DLP's the warranty is NOT a scam. my .02
