Default Please Be Careful

Late Monday evening I lost my brother to a drunk driver. My brother was driving on his way home after a family get-to-gether (he was not drunk nor drinking) and a burban full of drunk teenage kids celebrating their graduation pulled out in front of my brother and the only place he could go was into the rear of the burban. He died instantly thank god and I hope suffered no pain. I'm selling my bike and will never get back on one. He also was a single Dad and left behind a 3 year old beatiful little girl.

Please if you think about drinking and driving please remember my brother, if you think about driving recklessly remember my niece who no longer has a Father. Please

Oh Jesus, how very sad... I'm really sorry to hear that. You are really strong to be able to post this message so soon after. My condolences to you and your family. You'll see your brother again though.

I think I'm supposed to, so everyone will maybe realize what could happen. If I prevent one person who read this thread not to drive reckless or drunk then it has served its purpose.

I normally don't like to get into threads and preach but I think this one warrants a reply.

I've been driving for 23 years and have never been in an accident. I was in my only accident last September that involved a drunk/stoned driver. I am by nature a very defensive driver and that is what potentially saved my life. Last September I was on 146 early in the morning with no one else on the road save the person in the opposite lane coming at me. At the last second she decided to turn left into my lane. Because I was paying attention to what she was doing I was able to apply a slight right turn on my steering wheel. This caused her to hit just behind my driver's door rather than square on it. I shudder to think what would have happened had I not been paying attention.

We love our cars. We love to drive them hard. Just remember to drive them smart.

Hebdog I really do feel your pain and you have my sincerest condolences as well.

I am so sorry for you and your family. I try to preach safe driving to my kids, and I wont ever leave the driveway without them being buckled in. Peace to you and your family.

As my parents used to say - its not you that we worry about, its those "other" idiot drivers out there. (In hindsight, I wonder if by saying "other" they were including me as one of the idiots? )

Sorry to hear that. A guy I work with got killed this weekend on a Honda Shadow he had just bought 3 weeks ago. He wasn't wearing a helmet, took a curve too fast and hit a sign. It's getting to be all too common to hear about these kind of things happening to guys on bikes.
