Me and my girl have been throwing around the idea of moving to the Houston area around the end of the year. I've heard horror stories about humidity and all that B.S. How hot does it get really? Is it unbearable in the summertime? Right now we're in California where it will get to 100.

I live about an hour south of Houston. During the end of July through about Sept. - Oct. time frame it gets 100+ almost daily, with Humidity of 90%+. I dont know what the Humidity is in the part of Cali where you live, so it would be hard to compare. Best thing to do would be to visit here for a week to actually experience the difference and see if it is bearable. On another note i think emission laws are a lot more lax down here than in Cali so you can do more mods to the car.

June-August are the worst then the rest of the year is great, thats only 3 out of 12.

the weather is pretty much described by the words "shitty-***" as in shitty-*** weather, rains 24/7 and will get 100+ degrees w/ the heat index and also its always sticky....on the plus side we really dont have a winter so you get to drive your car year round and during our "winter" months the weather is amazing, just cold enough and no snow

I've been in Cali and I've been in Houston - You're better off picking somewhere else... California is 100* but it's a dry heat. Houston is 100-120* with 80%+ Humidty... Dallas might be better or even Austin.

Houston also has 3rd Worst Traffic in the US

Moved here in June of '05 from Northern Cali (San Jose) and adjusted no problem. Mosquito's are about the biggest issues to me. It's been raining like a mother though lately but for the money it's a hell of a move and i'd never go back to Cali to live after being here

you'd think this is hell itself the way it's described, i like hot weather and the humidty is something you get use to. You can do out doors stuff year round here. Rain comes and goes, give it 15 mins the weather will change.

Thanks for all the replies guys. I wish I could come out for a while but I won't have much time this summer. I'll actually be there in the beg. of august but just for a few hour layover. I'm gonna atleast go outside the airport to see what it's like. And emission laws will be much better. Can't wait to do some better mods. Exactly what are the laws in Houston? Do you have to pass a sniffer when you bring the car into state or anything like that? And I've dealt with So. Cal traffic so hopefully it won't be that bad.

I've heard the traffic is 3X worse there than here. As for the exact emission laws i'm not to sure but they don't hook the sniffer up to my car just plug into the computer, long as i'm not throwing codes i'm good to go.

Im (<<<<obviously) stationed in the UK, and everytime i come home, i swear to god i never remember it being that hot when i was living there. Also when i get bored i look at travel books about houston, and i hear (although never really heard in person) thats its the "unofficial" A/C city of the US. And if you think about it:

no AC in houston + aug = ****! Its hotter than AFRICA HERE!!!

Been to Houston and Los Angeles... they are about the same day in and day out. If you're in OC and not part of the 91 jam, then Houston will seem worse - that said, there are probably parts of Houston that have less traffic then others as So Cal does to.

As for emmissions, I'm clueless

I work outside, you get used to it, def sticky and humid, but it really just depends on how much time you plan on spending outside. You will go from your house to your car (OUTSIDE). Your car to your job(OUTSIDE) then at the end of the day the reverse. Not a big deal for most people. And if you have yard work to do you will probably do it in the morning or late in the evening.

Im kinda close to houston, about 1.5-2 hrs southeast and it gets HOT, you will break a sweat walking to your car in the afternoon.To see what its like get in a sauna and set it at 100* and 100% humidity. I love this place

When i was in the phillipines two years ago i thought it was pretty damn hot there since i was outside most the time. When i got back to TX i was like WHAT THE ****!!
