Default Need to vent about machine shop!!

Rebuildin my bottom end on my motor, and throwin a hotter cam in it. Took it to a machine shop last monday(9 days ago) that I have been told is very good. The dude promised me no later than a week, maybe sooner. I called him last friday morning just to check in and make sure he hadnt hit any problems with it, the dude blows up on me, tells me I called WAY to much, and that I need to leave him alone, he will call me if its junk. Says he hsant even started on it. Told me I called to much before I brought it in and I am calling to much now. I called him the first time to talk about price, called him again a few days later to inform him that I would be a few days late on bringing the block in, I was waiting on some parts, and called him when I got there, I couldnt find the front door. The dude wouldn't let me speak, was an *** to me, hung up on me. So that was friday, I left it alone, 4 o'clock today(wednesday) rolls around, the guy promised me monday, so I figure maybe hes running a little behind, I call him, still hasnt started on it! My buddie went in there yesterday to talk to him, said my block was the only one in the shop, and it was just sitting there. The guy promised me friday, if its not done by friday he is losing my business. He doesnt seem to inclined to do the work for me anyway... End of vent(sorry its so long)

I would get that thing out of there very quickly. You dont want him to just piece it together and then have it blow up on you. Dont worry about hurting his feelings cause it could be your pocket book that ends up with the most damage.

There is no reason for someone to blow up on a customer like that. Even if he did blow up on you for calling "to much", there is no excuse for hanging up on you. Go get your **** and tell him to **** off. Don't let him talk you into leaving your stuff there and let him work on it.

I think I have decided to go pick it up on my lunch break tomorrow. Thanks for the help. I let him talk me into keping it till friday, but I think I will just go get it. This really puts a damper on my build schedule though. I planned on assembling it this weekend.

We would have that **** done in a day, maybe two (To fit between other jobs) and WE would be calling YOU to come get your ****! LOL
Well, go and grab it, and find another place, shouldn't be too hard. Most machine shops will have that out for you in no time, I guess you just got unlucky...

I was afraid you were going to say it was Watt. He's a strange guy, but I had good luck with him on my rebuild. I had never rebuilt a motor before, and I was calling him constantly asking question after question. He helped me out each step of the way and answered all my newbie questions without complaint. He even lent me a ring compressor free of charge.

There is no question that the guy is strange, though. A five-minute conversation with him will have you walking away wondering where you can get some of what he's been smoking.

Yes, he is a VERY strange dude. And honestly, im sure hes a great machinist, but he doesn't seem to care about my business. Now, I am sure if I was spending 2000 bucks instead of 200 with him, he would be more inclined to do my work. But im gonna go get my block/cam bearings today and
