Default Fresh Motor

How long does it take to break in a motor. Also, what is the correct way of breaking in a new motor. I have about 50 miles on my new one and im keeping it under 2000rpm. Should i get on it a little or putter it around for 500 miles? btw, cam and heraders are a must for EVERYBODY

Hard breakin F T W. What kind of motor is it? I'd vary speeds and RPM for about 20 minutes, or half an hour, then hammer on it. If the rings aren't sealed and the cam's not flat by then, it won't be. Just my opinion, haven't lost a motor yet.

I have always boke in a motor like I was going to drive the car, Hard! I dont mean stand on it forever, but getting on it wont hurt it at all. Race motors get fired up, rapped a couple of times, then 8000rpms in the burnout box, thats there break in.

Couple heat cycles for the new valve springs and its gtg. Machine shops cant drive a motor around before they put it on an engine dyno and spin the hell out of it.

But we break the motor in on the dyno, varying RPM and engine load.
