Default Trans am may be nomore

My mom is pissed cause the lt1 is still overheating after a new tstat, fan motor it still overheats. my uncle thinks it is a blown head or something. so now she is saying im goin to have to switch to something slower. damn im tryin to convince her to get another engine ,but she thinks since the body has 260,XXX miles that the car will still have problems with a lower mileage engine.

LT1s are cheap engines right. i just dont want to get rid of my dads

G-force has a low mile LT1 that they will let go cheap give Mike a call and ask him about it I think it has 40-50 k on it out of his dads car. 100% stock might be a good option for you. good luck.

mine did it and nothing would fix it it turned out to be the shaft that drives the waterpump from the timing set it stripped...pull the pump off and see if you can spin the waterpump impellor by hand if not get a new pump, and make sure that the shaft that drives the pump from the timing cover doesnt move at all

its not the highest mileage in the world...
motor should be fine

lmk if your goana sell and what price

does it leak from anywhere? Mine had a slight crack in the back of the radiator below the filler neck. I replaced the end tank, and it was good to go. I was tracking the leak down for over a year, replacing everything the cooling system, until i found the culprit.

ive got a pressure checker to check for leaks in the system you put it on the cap and pressurise it....

you can also check the cap...

how long does it take to get hot? does it only get hot when its idleing? does it get hot going down the freeway? whens it getting hot?

Yeah you need to check for pressure, and I would take him up on this. I had a small heater core leak, that when I put in some flush cleaning stuff for my system it made the leak open up all the way.

Next thing you know I was getting air in the system, and would overflow from the reservoir after I would park the car. You are wanting to hear a small hiss when you twist your radiator cap, this will let you know there is some kind of pressure. (I had none at the time) Pressure is everything for your system to work. One small leak, and it can screw you.

Uhh, no. That just means it's heads/cam time
Srsly tho. You may have a faulty sending unit in the passenger side head if it just shoots up immediately. Of course this is all e-logic coming out, you should get someone who knows what they are doing with LT1's to actually look at it and test the coolant system out!
