Default just put my new 410s but....

when i drove it through the first heat cycle..... it had a small whind well this go away after i complete the heat cycles or should i get it looked at

I would say no.sounds like you got the backlash set to loose. The pinion and ring gear are not making good contact.

I have installed about 6 sets of gears and the ones that were done right never made a whine but the ones that i did wrong always whined.

Dial Indicator with a magnetic base? .008 to .012 is right isn't it?

Just put some drag radials on and go to the track, thats how you break them in.

also i forgot ..... the guy who did them said my lock nut on the pinon was bad ..... so i think that was the problem..... we have to check it again anyone have one for me? or know what i can use for it

Your on borrowed time anyway if you run the car hard, might as well find out what it will do at the track....go out w/ a bang!

well if you want to pass for my installation on my gears then be my guest.... my 373s i tore up are going back on but im getting them installed at tdp

you dont want to drive them around like that for long, it'll mess them up and turn them in to razor blade sharp edges

One or two reasons too much or to littel back lash could have the gears off set to one side too much (Too deep?). A dial indicator will only tell you the back lash. The pinion depth is done by using a marking grease to look at the contac pattern to detemine if they are too deep or too shallow etc... A lot of variables so it isn't as easy as a lot of people will make you think if you haven't done a few etc... I am no expert, but I am getting better I am still not 100% confident with out having someone who is there to re-check it etc...

Also, if everything else checks out...would be a no name gear oil you may have used...heard that happening before. Use a brand name gear oil.
