There a coworker that just started at my job. He has a GTP that he thinks is the fastest car on the road and wants to race. My car is a stock A4 and I believe his is stock also. I was wondering if they are really that fast and how many people have raced one and what was the outcome. Did you race from a dig or a roll.

I also have a friend with a GTP. His is a little more than stock, he raced my friends formula stock auto and got smoked like a ham on thanksgiving.

P.S everyone on here has a different opinion about everything. The next guy to post may say that the GTP is the fastest car alive. But you will never find out until you put the tread down.

What year GTP is it? Are you sure it is stock? If it is stock and you want to humiliate him, give him a couple lengths.

I had a coworker that was bragging about beating a Gran Am GT in his early 90's Civic saying how domestic V6's suck etc. I kept asking him if he was sure they were really racing. I showed up in my wife's 01 GA (with 170k miles) one day and shut him up.

My '01 ran 14.1 stock without a spare, back seat, 1/8 tank of gas, and if I remember correctly a 1.9x 60'. Average for most stockers is mid 14's. For a GTP with a good driver to get to LS1 territory that piece of junk 4t65e-hd tranny has to modified to support around 270ish whp and no one does that unless they are serious, mucho dinero. Stock whp is usually ~205, so yeah, it takes some money to get one to even stand a chance against an LSx.

If it's an 04 Comp G they run about the same stock bc they weigh a little more. But the newer gen V M90 reacts to mods much better than the previous gen III. A 97-99 typically loses a tenth on the quarter because of the original heads/throttle body designs.

So simply put, if you can't hear his blower screaming, he isn't turbocharged, or he doesn't have an aftermarket cam or isn't spraying, chances are he's still slower than you, tear'em a new poop shoot.

GTP's are pretty quick for a fwd car.... mine puts down over 320fwhp and 340fwtq.... runs with most tuned/exhausted f-bodies.
all he needs to beat you is a tune, 3.4, exhaust, downpipe, u-bend delete, intake, and brake boost.

assuming your car runs 13.7's as it sits.... he can pull you 3rd gear... but over 100 you will get him.

I would agree with most of these guys that you will smoke him... Everyone knows some guy who thinks his GTP is the greatest thing in the world.

Unless he has the GXP... But I have not seen too many of those in action.
they are v8's, but if GTP you have him np.

I will say one thing, be very careful about assuming that he is stock. We have
a black 4 door that looks stock with exhaust work that will surprise you any
day of the week.

Check this out: Just go race him and have some safe fun. Thats all there is to it.
Race him from a standing start, 50 mph roll, whatever he wants. Just have fun. Fun is what its all about. If he beats you. Then congratulate him. Too easy.

Buy a cheap Nitrous outlet kit .. hide it well -- and if and i do mean IF he actually starts pulling away ... Spray the house down and say you were waiting on him to start racing .. he he a 125 shot is more than enough to destroy a GTP

ya dont shrug a GTP off, stock for stock ya ownage but if he has some work you'd be surprised running 13.5's with $700 to a family sedan

Stock for stock, you have him by about a full second in the 1/4. It's going to take him bolt-ons, a tune, and 3.4" pulley to run with you. And then probably a 3.2" pulley to beat you. But, that can all be had in a GTP pretty cheap. You can buy a pulley for as cheap as $60 new, U-bend delete for $200, CAI for about $200 (or even a homemade FWI, I see it all the time), and a tuned PCM for $100. So, for less than $600 in mods, a GTP will be running 13's.

Well the guy is starting to **** me off. All day at work yesterday he was talking trash and wanted to run after work. So when the day was over i told him to wait i had something to do talk real quick with the boss and i would be out there asap. So i walk outside and he is gone. This morning i asked him about it and he said he got a call from his wife or whoever and had to hurry home(the old chicken excuse) So maybe if he decides not to bail on me today ill let ya know how it goes monday.

Well put. If someone in a "slower" car beats me then props to them for building a car that can do it. It's not the end of the world.

Just run him. He'll be amazingly quite after you whup him.
