Question Stepped Up Patrols

Any of you guys notice that around every Holiday they announce that patrols are going to be stepped up everywhere but when you go out no matter where you go, you dont notice anymore patrols than you would on a regular day? I've had to go on almost every freeway to get home as well as many side streets and havent yet to see any difference. Years ago (more than 10, I'd see a lot of DPS out though, but not anymore)

Have any of you notice a difference?

I haven't noticed a change either. The donut shops must be busy.

Hahaha Hater! Dont bash like that . What I should have added was that the day before any holidays I will see a little step up I guess to "scare" people into thinking about the drinking but when the time is there, there doesnt seem to be that much of a noticable change.

I guess it depends are where your at. Early last New Years day I drove from Waxahachie to Round Rock and saw only 2 DPS units but later that morning on the drive back I counted 27 units and half of those where busy pulling people over.

Normally my area has a a few cops running around but yesterday I was out for about two hours just riding around with a couple friends and I counted 19. 19 freakin cops in a 6 mile radius of my house. Hell 4 or 5 of them were about 5 miles out of their area.

I guess I should have refrased this to be "in the immediate Houston area" since that's the main area I travel around and have seen these "scare/aware" news bulletins for here.

Well, just as I suspected. Got off work, drove pass downtown to 59 to pick up sister in law, went around down to 290 cutting off to Antoine and no police. All of the "Stepped Up" patrols must have been on the south side or something of as I suspected another scare tactic. Oh well, glad everybody here had a safe one and Happy New Year.

Yup. kinda like when they say "cracking down on speeders". They don't do anything more usually. They just want it out in the news as a scare tactic

Last night i saw probably 6 or 7 DPS, and 4 or 5 local cops out, where in my normal driving on a weekend night i might see 2, so i thought it was stepped up quite a bit.

Geeze guys, I didnt mean for this to be a bash on the police but I can understand if you've had some bad experiences.

67 Ranger, what part of Houston was this in? A lot of bars by there maybe?

on my way home from work yesterday, i saw 4 people pulled over. and on my way to the party i was going to, i saw 6. i normally dont see that many cops in 2 months. my friend that i was meeing up with at the party, said he didnt see any on his way there.. so might just vary based on the roads you travel on.
