Default Close call with inspection... New exhaust time!

Well, many of you know ive asked around about inspections.. i took the car to RPM and they tuned out the codes for me.. Waited 200 miles and went to the inspection place in lewisville.. It was cold as hell and windy yesterday. so i roll up there and the guy is in his 50's, he leaves the car in Inside the shop i have no cats and duals.. so hes like, it smells terrible i have to hook it up to the machine. but wait you dont have tips, and i dont want to get under the car. *Whew...

2nd part... he goes to lift the hood to check out the funny smell.. ****.. no EGR!! so as hes opening the hood, i go HEY LOOK AT THE WIPERS!! LOL wtf did that come from.. so he shuts the hood and looks at the ****** wipers lol, they were bad! woot woot, he said 10$ to replace them.. i obliged happily.. so yeah.. no codes were thrown, and he forgot to check under the hood again: D. and i passed.

it was nice to have have to pay someone 100+ bucks for a damn inspection.

dont think imma try my luck again next year... And im thinkin of ditching the duals after the summer and get a corsa exhaust.. ive had a borla exhaust, and i wanna try something new... and for those who know me ill weld on the tips lol.

Anyone know anything about corsa, craig has it on his SS, and it sounds badass at WOT.

ha ha that's awesome. "look at the wipers!" lol that's some funny **** right there.

are you selling your other tip? i might cut off mine and bolt the one back on. i liked how your's looked with a solo tip.

I know TrevSS, this whole thread is a lie.. my car is not modded, its stock. BELIEVE EVERYTHING YOU READ IN PEOPLES SIGS!!!

You lucky SOB...I would never be that lucky, in fact the DPS troopers around occassionally hideout at the post office across the street from the inspection station I go to. I know those lawdogs are just waiting for the inspector to do something shady...I bet I would have been pulled over as soon as I left the station.

im thinkin about tossin the egr only for inspection times, but not plug it in.... And change my duel system to a corsa, or gmmg..

or just have the duals go all the way out to the back and throw some cats on i dislike cats though, but my car smells like raw eggs

They won't notice the EGR is missing unless they are familiar with LS1 cars, which is unlikely, and it REALLY won't matter if the codes are deleted. The 01+ cars don't even have it.

I'd run the duals out the back and keep rocking them.

we dont have to worry about anything around here, no emissions, cops dont care about front pates and kickass mexican food
but then again Im probably the slowest LS1 in the GT

how hard would it be to modify duels to go outback, could i just take off the hangers, reweld the pipes onto the end of what i have now, bend the pipe to go over the axle and then toss some tips on them?

the driver side would be alittle tougher since all the **** for the tank is in the way. check out the sticky over in the external Gen III section. it'll show you what alot of people did to run it out the back

thats why i have cats and duals that go under axle and out the back 100% legal

as for egr 01-02 cars didnt even have thats stuff

In texas its illegal to have longtube headers, and cats have to be in the same position as stock. also duals can not be dumbed under the rear end they have to be futher back then the back seats. just a helpful hint man

There is definitely slower LS1's in the 40nizzle.

I have failed twice, but I was cammin' ***** with dumped duals/bullets and no cats. There's a penzoil station on 366 (Magnolia) in Port Neches that I go to now, but my exhaust is run out the back now. If you ever have trouble (which I doubt you will), I'll bring it by there and get it done, the guy knows me at this point lol.

I would (did lol) take them out under the axle with flanges. Check out the TD's sticky in the top of the Gen III External section.

My system was tucked VERY well and the under the axle pieces were not even the lowest point! I NEVER once hit them on the swaybar/ground and I hit some bumps that would have scored a solid 9.4 at the X-Games.

If you need to unload the rear suspension, you just take out the 6 flange bolts and drop the tails, if not, just put the jackstands under the axle.
