My dogs eating his poop
Well, my sister got me a new Choc. Lab for christmas, hes a great dog, his names Bear, hes only 8 weeks old and we are trying to crate train him somewhat while everyone is gone in the house, but when he poops in the crate, he will eat it as well. He also just pooped in the house and before we could go clean it, he ate it again......
I've heard of the pills you give them, but are there any other solutions rather than spaking him as for right now? any secret remedies?
thanks
J Payne

Welcome to lab ownership.
Mine did it occasionally too. I occasionally doused his poop with hot ground pepper. Haven't seen him do it in a while.
Mine got skunked the other night. Man, he stinks now. Ahh, the joys....

Get a better food, one with meat as the first product. If the dog can still smell food (not fully digested) in the poop that could be the problem. Beating them for shitting in the house can also make them try and eat it to hide it.

2muchricemakesmesick- his skin under his furr looks fine
MPM- Hes on a purina puppy food, its all dry, but we do give him Bil-Jac treats, we might switch to a more meat oriented one as soon as he is bigger
He only does it occationally, not all the time but it does worry me and it is pretty digusting
I'm going to try and go to the local pet store and pick up some forbid or whatever it is that makes his poop taste bad, hopefully that stops it, like camarohaloic said alot of labs actully do this, im now figuring out.
other then that hes already learning how to sit and stay and knows his name, pretty smart dog, cant wait for him to go hunting with me

This is a pretty normal puppy thing, ask your vet. He should outgrow it. If you want to try something cheap, pineapple chunks supposedly make the poo taste bad and it won't make them sick. It's also a good idea not to let him see you picking up his poo...
EDIT: This is a great opportunity to use this smiley --->
