It depends on what ET you run to stay legal. I ran a Wolfe bolt in 5 point for a long time. It does go through the rear speaker holes, but I kept the speakers and just moved them a little further back in the hole kept them functional. I think they also off a 5/6 point that mounts behind the pass seats. The bolt in you can do yourself yet not entirely legal. A weld in going to cost a chunk of $$ due to labor costs, but if you know you are going to spend a good bit of time at the track, spen dthe money now and do it right instead of doing it twice.

There are several options on the custom or pre-fabbed weld in cages. Wolfe, MadMan or Bill Buck can do a fine job for you.

Our car is in Austin as we speak having a full 10 point CM cage installed by Bill Buck. He had an opening and our car was available needing a cage so it worked out great! Most cage fabricators will have a pretty good back log (1-3 months), so check into that before making a final decision.

FWIW- We had a cage in our car before we legally had to have one and they do serve a purpose. You can't put a price on safety.

Good luck!!

I have the bolt-in and I wish I had it welded because the bolt-in is not as easy as you think. You have to remove the gas tank to get the back bars bolted in which is a major pain in the hiney. Id get the one that TXCAMSS has that goes through the speakers. And just have it welded in. I also wish I would have paid the extra money and gotten the chromoly roll bar for the additionaly weight savings. Hope this helps.

Bill Buck installed my Wolfe Chromoly. Like you, I didn't want the back bars through the speakers, so I bought the Wolfe model that anchors them in the back hatch.

We just finished this cage for a road racing application.

We've installed rear down tubes with the tank in the car before. It's risky and moving the tubes very far inboard is very risky as the metal is a single layer and tough to weld. We install the down tubes directly over the upper spring perch for maximum rigidity and maximum metal thickness.

you can buy a Wolf Kit and have it welded it in like mentioned. A 6pt will be all you need Mr. Brooks.

I assume this is possibly for Chris' car?

Exactly. My cage is good for bottom 10's. That road race cage is nice, but probably extreme overkill for your application.

It's just an example of our work and our abilities.. We can put in 1/2 the number of bars.
