Default F-Body prices in Texas

I'm most likely going to be attending a college in Texas, which if very far away from my home state of NY. I'm probibly going to sell my 94 Camaro (3.4L V6) and try to find a nice F-Body in Texas when it comes time to move. I would really like to get a 98-02 Trans Am. Would I be able to buy a clean one there for $7,500 - $8,000? Or should I be expecting to pay more?

Thanks
-Mike

F-body's are hugely popular down here, especially in the Houston and D/FW areas. You can find a deal but sometimes it takes time to find it. For your price range you may be able to find '98-'00 that are clean but you're going to see most, if not all, of them have been modded in some way. I think '01 - '02's may be just out of your price range, but you never know. Low and mid-mileage LS1's are getting harder and harder to find. Good luck and welcome to Texas (get ready for the heat).

Look for a 99 or 2000. I bought a bone stock fully loaded 02 Z28 with 50k last April for $14k the newer ones are still out of your range.

All I got to do is just finish up high school, and then pass the test to get into SAM, and i'll be down there.

Are there a lot of car shows in the Houston area?

I'm going to miss the NY summers (75-80 degree days), But am going to be happy leaving the snow in NY during the winters.

I actually think Dallas has it the worst. Blazingly hot humid summers and ice storms in winter.

Houston FTW!!!!!

my 02 z28 costed me 13800.00
car had 46,000 miles on it, 1 owner.
I found it here in dallas, but I also got lucky since it was the 1st day the guy put it in an ad, and after that the guy got sick and was not taking calls for 1 week.

I finally got a hold of him, and he bumped me in before the others to look at the car since I could get there before everyone else...LOL
I got there at 8am in the morning on a Sat.
drove home with the car by 8:45am that Sat..

sorry people who couldnt get there earlier missed out.

good for me though... But good luck on your find and your move.

I always thought Houston was like F-body central. Bought mine last December. A 1998 that was pretty much BONE STOCK.
