Default Dont pay red light camera tickets

I'm shocked that I was just advised by my traffic attorney NOT to pay my red light camera ticket. He told me that all it is is renenue for the city, they can't issue a warrant or report to a credit bureau. He straight up told me NOT to pay it and just throw it away!

I'm just relaying the info to y'all the way it was explained to me by him personally and I will be taking his advice.

PS: He has handled over 100 tickets of mine since 1998 - no exaggeration either and I've only ever had 1 on my record, other than that 7 yo ticket, I have a flawless driving record

MODS: Please delete this thread if I can somehow get in trouble for divulging this information. thanks. just trying to help save us all some money

not sure about other states but I am going to neglect paying this ticket and see if anything really does happen. this is totally unlike me being very responsible about everything but i'll do it and keep y'all informed if anything happens

ed: the ticket is $75

the city can not report you to a credit bureau or cpopllection agency since it is basically free money to the city and since so many people just pay it, they're all good anyway

I got 3 camera tickets in 1 month and didn't pay them either. They are handled by a private company and not the City of Houston.

this is easy...

DON'T RUN RED LIGHTS!!!

If you get caught, pay the fine, you are most likely guilty anyway.

Take responsibility for your actions!

.. or maybe, just maybe, he didn't actually run a red light.

A friend of mine got one for making a left hand turn on a protected green arrow. I was in the car with him when we seen the camera flash, it was about 2am and we were the only car in the intersection.

The operative word in my statement was "most", leaving the door open for the "maybe"'s that come out and the mistakes of the camera's (they are not infallable).

You gave an "accusation sandwich." You accused him of running the light before and after your "most likely" comment.

Time for a new lawyer.. I got a collection notice a couple of months ago, from a collection company for the City of Garland, cause someone I sold a car to 6 years ago ran a redlight 3 years ago and the car was still in my name. Checked my credit report and it was there. Also, saw on the news that other people's credit were being hit before they were being notified that there was a ticket.

I would think that if the city was going to all of the trouble to hire a company to put up these cameras and issue tickets, I would surmise that there has to be some type of consequence for not paying the fine ie. ding on your credit report, not being able to register your vehicle etc.
