Did you install it with the heads on the block? I heard it can only be done from the top if the heads are off of it.

I was thinking of dropping the k-member so I can assemble everything nice and comfortable while it is off the car. BTW Congarts on getting it put together, hope to see ya around town.

You can put it in from the top no problem with heads. With transmission is a feat however! I just put the motor back in my car but it was long block only.

I've always gone through the top, never had a problem. I've had engines in/out quite a few times before.

its easy from the top, trans is no prob if you lift the front of the car up on jack stands while doing this.

The first time I had a shop install mine from the bottom, just the long block and tranny. Im getting ready to remove the shortblock with the tranny from the top. My tranny is a T-5 so it shouldnt get in the way too much.
So, you guys have done it from the top with the heads ON?

Thats the only part that worries me b/c getting to the bolts on my Gen 1 sbc can get pretty tight back there.

I will be doing mine from the bottom but it will be on a lift so it should be easier that way.
