Default I Need Help!!

Ok guys i have an lt1 with about full bolt on thinking of getting a cam but not sure if i should because i have lots of miles i have 172.000s so do ya think i should or no????

just drive it till you are ready to do full rebuild. you run the risk of spinning a bearing installing a cam with that much milage.

SBC's are long mileage motors. Depending on how it was cared for and driven makes all of the difference. If you put most of those miles on it and drove it daily driver duty to rack them up then jump at it. If it doesn't knock or use oil there is no reason for it to start when you are finished. Dirt intrusion is the killer of Lt1's in cam swaps. If it holds solid steady good oil pressure there is nothing to worry about. I've cammed a couple of high mileage cars at work and they are still going.
