Default 1989 IROC Camaro, 350 TPI, 700r4, t-tops - $2500

This is the one i bought a few months ago to fix the trans and re-sell. I have too much on my plate and don't have time to mess with it. The trans is slipping, but i have one that i took out of my other IROC that has ~10k miles on it since the rebuild (with upgraded parts, etc). This trans is included.

Engine is a 350 TPI (rebuilt about 25k miles ago). Seems to start and run decent, has an exhaust leak. Interior is decent for its age - dash has a few cracks (all of them do including mine ), missing a radio, body looks pretty straight and rust free ( a few small spots but nothing major). Paint looks decent, front bumper has some bad spots.

$2000 if picked up by this sat. A weekends work and someone would have a pretty decent car to drive or resell.

or sell the engine & trans and put an ls1 in it like i did to my other 89 IROC

bump - buyers have been a no show so far. If it doesn't sell by this weekend i'll probably swap the trans and then sell it. I close on our house in less than 2 weeks.

Man I'd love to buy this car. I always wanted a black 350 IROC. I had a 305 87 IROC back in 94. I think one project is all I can handle right now though. Good luck with the sale.

I once had an 89 IROC.. L98/T5.. It was a great car! Wish i had never gotten rid of it.

So, this is in fact an L98? It's actually a pretty rare car as most of them were LB9 (305). Does the A/c work? Could you post pic's of the RPO codes?

You say it runs rough? Could you expand?plugs? wires? rotor/distributor?

I am interested.. Looking for a decent car for my 16 y/o.. If memory serves me, it's not a high HPcar.. Alot of Tq.. but not much over 200hp..

LMK buddy... you can PM me if you like.

Did you swap in the T-5? You couldn't get a T-5 with the L98 ... 700R4 only.

It is an L98 IROC. The A?C system is there but i have not tried it. I will include a almost new A/C compressor that came off of my other IROC as well, even though it may not need it.

I can try to take some pics of the RPO codes on sat.

It sat at the previous owners house for a year or so. Starts up pretty easily but runs a little rough, but i would imagine that plugs and wires would do it good- as well as just driving it some to clear up the old gas.

We need to move out of this house by the 21st, and if i wasn't so busy ( i still may try) i would swap the trans and give it a tune up and jack the price up, etc.

It is not a brand new car, it has small issues - but is a great deal at $2500.

James - trying to figure out what to do with all of my crap and car projects

I ordered it that way.. no pw,dl,no a/c,.. i know people will argue.. I did actually order the car with that package. If i recall, it was an addt'l $3500.00?

I traded up/down for a 1993 LT1 car when they 1st came out.

In retrospect, i wish i would have kept it. it was a very RARE car.

Good luck with the sale buddy.

That's what I was thinking. I know you could get it with the TPI 305. There was a guy back in the late 80's in my hometown that had a white 89 IROC that was a 5 speed and he swore up and down that he was able to special order that car with the L98. The damn thing was fast as **** so we believed him. He could beat the auto L98's with ease and the car was bone stock. He worked at the Chevy dealer so maybe he did order it that way. I don't know what GM allowed as far as special equipment options back in the 80's.
