Default 3rd Gen ls1 conversion

So how many people have done it?

My wife and I are going to pick up her old 88 camaro.
I am planning to start building a new engine for the 02, and stick my ls1 in the 88.
I have looked around and found a few parts for the conversion, but wanted to hear from people who have already did this and if it is as easy as it seems.
So that being you are mechanically inclined, the being easy part.

Thanks for any input.

I helped (actually did the majority of the work) on a 95 Z28 with a 98 LS1. It's a pretty simply swap mechanically, the wiring is the PITA. I strongly recommend sending the wiring harness to Speartech to have it modified to work with the car. I didn't and I was kicking myself in the *** for it. Other than that (given that you've pulled/installed a motor before) it should be pretty simple.

Good luck!

There is also a beautiful 3rd gen on here that has done the drivetrain and interior conversion but I don't remember the screen name.

Let me know what you need help with and I will be happy to help you out. A local shop did all the hard work(install) but I know where to get most of the parts.

not too bad of a swap, figure out what you want to do with the gauges, and make some wiring changes, etc.

thirdgen.org has a swap section as well.

I have the painless harness in mine. I also changed out my dash gauges while it was done to better monitor everything
