Angry Wtf sprinkler damage?

Okay well my family turned on the sprinkler for the first time this year and my car was outside next to one of them of course. I wake up and go out to wash it off and as I'm cleaning it I realize that the "water spots" aren't coming off. It looks like the clearcoat has been eating off in the areas where the water was able to puddle. I cleaned it as good as I could but the marks are still all over the car! To make matters worse I went inside and turned the sprinklers off but someone else turned them back on and my car got another dose of it the next day and made it 10x worse. There are also spots all over my rims that I cannot get off. It's only on one side of my car where the sprinkler hit.
What should I do now? I will try to take pictures of it. I am so pissed off the paint is fairly new and it's already trashed.

Clay bar, polishing compound, wax, these should all take care of it.

Usually when that happens to my car, i just give it a good wash and those spots come right off, if thats not the case, just wax it. Im sure water from the sprinklers didnt penetrate that far into it (if it all)

just water, maybe a little bit of a chemical in it but you figure it's for grass so it shouldn't harm grass much less paint clear coat. go get a clay bar and go to town.

+1 for claybar. that will take care of it. its just mineral deposits in the water. after you claybar, keep your car waxed to help prevent that from happening.

back home, i used to have to park across the street from my house because every time my dad would run the sprinklers my car would get soaked and get water spots.

I did wash and wax it.. it took the clearcoat off in places.
It is a lot deeper than it looks.
The claybar didn't help at all.

somethings up with that. someone screwed up because if grass feed takes off clear coat i think dogs would be dead to, amongst other things.

There should be a warranty on it. Water shouldn't eat off clear coat.

Didn't you say in a post that you got it painted at Maaco?? Sprinkler water definitely shouldn't eat up clear coat!

Yes I am definitely thinking this too... but it also messed up my rims..
I might have it detailed and take it somewhere and get some real clear coat put on.

If clear coat is coming off that easy then they did a crappy job. I hate to tell you this but another shop probably won't just re-clear the car they will want to repaint it. Because if the clear comes off easy what does that say about the rest of the paint job.

I would have someone really detail it and see what happens but then again didn't you just have it painted?

Yep just had it painted. The paint seems to flake off easily in some areas like it was inconsistent.

I need to see more pictures of you to see how bad the damage is. FYI Sometimes when sprinklers spray for the first time around (new season) excessive build up and stagnated chlorine will come out causing this on any car. Depending how much chlorine was in the lines, it can easily damage clear coat. My dads new blue chevy pick up got ruined (clear started coming off), from a neighbors sprinkler system, He ended up repainting the whole side due to how bad the chlorine damaged it. Body shop guy said it was a fairly common problem, that large amounts of chlorine can cause paint damage. Chlorine is 100% safe for grass and doesn't effect grass, flowers, or even skin in any way, just effects paint jobs
