Who uses them?

I want to put one in my 2 car garage, but I'm worried about fumes...

also, theres not a lot of room with all of the sh*t in there, so I don't want to catch anything on fire, since they throw out a lot of heat, but mainly in 1 direction.

Recommend anything else? There is a wall mounted heater in there, connected to the gas in the house (but it faces the wrong way lol)

the fumes to get kinda bad after a while. I heat the garage up before i go out then just kick it on then off to keep it decent.

i have only used them in large shops and the fumes weren't bad. keep anything at a distance from the front of it, as it does get quite warm there.

you can get a little mini one my step dad has one in his 2 car garage fumes arent to bad and heats like a mo fo

We used them. You can smell it,but i'd rather smell that then be cold..

i use one all the time in my buddies shop it keeps it pretty warm. like everyone else said the fumes arent to bad but its worth dealing with the fumes to stay warm

They have torpedo heaters that run on propane as well probably wouldn't smell at all.

kero heaters work great. they smell, but never been an issue with fumes with me.
either a 2 car, or a 30x45 shop. its more the heat that will get your eyes rather than the fumes if its too close to your working area. i usually face it away from where i am.

the propane heaters work great too. some arent quite as loud as the kero heaters.
i have found that sometimes my eyes will burn a lil depending on where i got my bottle filled.
my eyes are sensitive. i dont know what is the difference in propanes. but sometimes it bothers me.

Both heaters could kill you if the place isn't vented.I use to use a 32,000 BTU propane heater.It would warm up my garage in under 10 minutes then you put in on a low setting.BUT after a few hours I'd get dizzy and have to open up the door to circulate the air.

Propane torpedo heaters are awesome. They heat very very well and don't smell. In fact I can't even notice much of a smell at all while I'm working on the car.

Just got a propane 50,000 btu torpedo, it's great, heats my 22x30x 16' high garage beautifully.

i normally crack the door just a bit, becuase the 65,000 BTU Kero will run you out of the 2 car garage. smell is not bad at all.

I ran my old one off 50/50 waste vegetable oil/kerosene when I could get it at the restaurant I worked at. Supposedly the newer ones are more finicky.

Sorta had a food smell

One time I overfilled it with vegetable oil and it took a while to start but it still ran. Probably like 85% WVO

I have had 1 propane, and 2 kerosene. The propane heater i used was horrible. Worst fumes, and would kill you. Then i got a 55,000 btu kerosene. I ran it on kerosene for the first yr or 2. Then kerosene became hard to find by me, and i switched to diesel. Diesel has been great. about 1 month ago my 55,000 btu kerosene heater took a crap on me. So i picked up a 70,000 btu kerosene. It is even better. There is very little to no fumes once i got it all adjusted, has a thermostat that works great.

I am heating a 50ft by 30ft drywall/insulated garage with 14 ft cielings. If you were to buy one, i would definatly say kerosene over propane.

We have a kerosene Ready Heater I think its like 110,000BTU and that thing can heat up a large area rather quick. We have a thermostat for it that you plug into the heater and then plug the end of the thermostat into extension cord. Works really nice and you don't have to unplug it and plug it when your hot or cold. The fumes aren't really noticeable to me but your clothes will smell like kerosene after your around it for awhile.

I have used one for about 9 yrs and I don't have any problems with fumes with mine. I even started running off road diesel in it last yr cause it's cheaper, gotta love the farm/ag permits.

All of them that I have seen have a thermostat on them even if it is just a dial with no temp marked off, which is how mine is. It's easy enough to adjust it to turn off once it reaches a comfortable temp.

i used a 60,000 btu in my 2 car garage, works good i dont think the fumes are to bad i dont usually crack a window or door and ive always felt fine, i dont like letting the heat out
