Default Anyone here get the "Free" 1998 GM Expertec Service Manual CDs?

For you guys that were involved with LS1.Com back in the beginning;

Remember when we could call GM and get the 1998 GM Expertec Service Manuals on 5 CDs for free? These were version 204/205.

These CDs covered all the 1998 cars, to include the LS1 f-body. All service procedures to include removal of internal LS1 engine components were avail. Seemed a little confusing to use though.

My question to anyone that also recieved these free CDs: Are they as good as the high dollar Helms CDs now avail?

BTW, these free CDs had a logo on the bottom that says: " Authentic GM Technical Service Information"

Since I have a 98 TA, do I really need the Helms manual since I have these CDs?

Ron,

I got in on that freebie deal way back.
I still use them and yes they are as good as a manual.
For a little while I was able to get into GM's online site for service personal and it was pretty much the same stuff I have on the cd set.
A manual would be nice to have but the cd set is very complete.
Your good to go with the cd set IMO.

I got them too. Pretty helpful. They were a little confusing at first but once you use them for a while you get used to them. They COULD be a little more user friendly though.

I got in on that too. I've used them quite a few times for removal instructions on various parts, torque sequences and values, etc. They've more than paid for themselves BTW, I agree that they are confusing to use.

I just received the 5 cd set from on Ebay. I paid 29 dollars with shipping.
The set covers anything GM from 1980 to 2002.
Do asearch for the company that stamps em out (Cdwerx) on Ebay, thats what I did

So far everything I needed to know on my 2000 WS6 was found in it.
For instance: I was having problems with the rear defroster and it had the full wire diagram for me to trouble shoot.
