Default 3" Stainless Exhaust Build @ SNL Performance

Just finished up a Twin Turbo Cadillac 3" Stainless exhaust system in house. Let me know what you think, or if you have any fabrication questions.

X pipe looks restrictive. What's the cross section of it? I figured it would have smoother inlets/outlets.

We have tried a few different styles of x-pipes, and this one pulled a good vacuum will using a large cfm air blower. Its about 4.5" at the cross section.

Exhaust design is one of those weird things that involves changing the way you think on sizing vs function. Most all the good collector ends get smaller then cone back up bigger as a way of increasing velocity. Many mufflerless NHRA collectors will cone up larger, then reverse cone smaller. This helps extend power production past peak power, so they say. No one size fits all on what works best either.

We're talking about expending pulsed amounts of hot air here, not water flowing through a pipe. Different rules.

If you really understand what you're looking at , the x-pipe isn't a restriction.

Nice tuck job by the way.

LOL, it looks odd the way the welds make it look and the way its made, but it seemed to function very well. I hope that sounded right! LOL

I think it looks great! As far as restrictive as some have said, restrictive compared to what? It certainly will flow better than stock! Anyone bashing this work, post up pics of your ****!

Many thought it was restrictive, even after it made over 1100 rwhp. So, at the customers request, we removed the X and replaced them with straight 3" pipes and it picked up absolutely nothing but sound.

It made the same power at the same places exactly. It's louder now though, which he wanted anyway.
