Default FS: Snap on tools

My grandpa is a retired mechanic. He just gave me a huge toolset of snap on tools. The thing is, I already have a set of craftsman that I use. I have a ton of snap on tools that I could sell How much do you guys think this is worth... 6-32 mm british flank drive hand wrenches. then i have the corresponding flank drive in standard. All chrome, great condition. I have about 200 -250 snap on sockets, all mm sizes, in deepwell, and reg, standard sizes. I mean there is a ton. And all the corresponding socket drivers. If i sold this, how much do you think I would get?

Check out ebay, snap-on tools sell like a **** over there. Just sell the sockets in groups of 3 or 4, the more you break down the set the more money they bring in.

Why would you sell your grandads tools? Seems to me thats something you would want to keep.

Sell your crapsmen, keep those priceless snap-on tools, besides he gave em to you because he rather see you putting them to use than not doing anything with them. If you do sell them you will regret it someday, I guaranty it

Ditto, i would keep the Snap-on's expecially if they're free.

The few snap-on tools i have are great i just can't afford to buy tons of them.

Craftsman are nice, but not in the same leauge as the Snap-off i mean Snap-on

Well, I'll probably sell the 6-32 mm hand wrenches, and the corresponding standard wrenches. they are huge sets, and they retail for over 1200 in the snap on catalog. I'll keep what I dont have already in craftsman. So I have 2 huge hand wrench sets for sale, both chrome. I have a bunch of sockets for sale. I need to take inventory, so I know what I can sell, and what I'll keep. I'll keep you guys posted.

This is a bad decision; KEEP the Snap-N-Half's and sell, donate or dump the Craftsmutt tools - they suck.

In a few years your mods will be worth ZERO. Keep the Snap-N-Half tools; they are priceless since:

1. they were your Grand Papie's,
2. They are the very best tools that are overpriced but REALLY cool to own.

Sell your Snap-N-Half's and you will be forever cursed by the Tool God!

I have some old snap-on tools and I wanted to replace a few and the prices are sooo high compared to when I bought mine (1970's). Keep them Snap-Ons or you will wished you had 20-30 years from now.

I'd just like to say that I built my entire '69 Camaro by myself, and not a single Snap-On tool was used. I did just fine with my Craftsman stuff. You guys make it sound like Craftsman tools don't work or something.

Unless you make your living turning wrenches, I don't see the need for them. They seem more like a status symbol more than anything

I think Sears tools are OK. I have some. One thing I really like about Snap-on is their wrenches- they are light weight and thinner than most wrenches I have used. For tight places they are better IMOP.

I would agree, but a lot of people get some of them just for the hell of it.

I'll probably pick up one of their torque wrenches and a 3/8 and 1/2 in drive rachet just to do it.

Snap-On is superior in every way to Craftsman, in my experience. Of course, sockets and hand wrenches are about the same. You can't really mess up on those.

If they are really really old snap on didn't use flank drive then. Rachets and Screwdrivers will probley have the old style handles.
