Default New tool box!

Hello everyone. I'm going to be needing a toolbox soon and I figured i should get it soon since i still have my 50 percent discount off Snap-on and Matco. So its between Snapon or Matco for boxes. The Matco one im looking at is a double bay standard rollaway. It has 24,000 cubic inches of space. Model number MB4725 or a snapon one with 19,500 cubic inches. Model number KRA5319DPC. The price for the Matco is about $1,700 and the price for the Snapon is about $1,450. Which one would you all reccomend??

Is that before or after the 50% discount?

Either way I recommend you consider the stainless steel chest sold at Sam;s club.

It is made of thicker steel, carries more tools, and is better for $650!

Hehe, the stainless steelie at Sam's Club was the one I was going to mention too. If I had known about it before I bought my craftsman box I would have gotten that one.

Don't be fooled by the Sam's box. There are two versions sold. The cheapo version and the Hammerhead version. Make sure the lid says hammerhead. I went to pick one up about a year ago and it was the cheapo version..

By the way i forgot to mention that i will be a tech. This is what I will be doing for a living. I use Snapon boxes at my school and like them, but ive never had experience with Matco boxes. I've heard from some that Matco are better. By the way thats after the discount the Snap On ones is $3,000 regular price and the Matco one is about $3600. So anymore opions would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Bryan

i have the KRA5319 in blue. It's a great box, and i absolutely love it, but if i had it all to do over again, i would have gotten the one with 2 rows of drawers kra5213 maybe? It's the one right under the 5319 box in the SEP catalog. Reason being is that some of my long extensions, pry bars, breaker bars and slide hammers don't fit horizontally in the center drawers. Theres only one long drawer, and i like to keep my wrenches there.

Just a thought, the 5213? is like 100 bucks cheaper as well...

I have a mb8525, like these http://www.matcotools.com/Catalog/to...at=2433&select I will be getting a side cabnet because IM out of room. And I only have 1/2 my tools at work (only need metric) Go big or go home. A good box will last you forever.

The Sams club box is a hunk- Both kinds are. The doors dont lock any more, the detents that keep them from sliding open dont work any more, the little "shock" that holds open the top hatch broke off, its just a peice.

Well that Matco box was the biggest box I can get with my discount. So i figured id get that and use it for a while and then trade it in for a bigger box since i would probably make a profit out of it since im buying it on a discount. Do you think that box with the top box will be big enough for a while or not? Also are roller bearings the same as ball bearings, or are them the cheaper ones? Does anyone else in here own this same box?

It's not better, it's just cheaper. Considering SnapOn boxes are heavier than hell, I seriously doubt your first guesstimate as well. What did you measure it with? Your wallet? Not only a tri-fold, but doubles as a caliper from .010 to .025 wall thickness?

I don't believe you own either, do you?

The new Matco boxes are the nicest going right now, especially for the money. IMO they are noticably better quality than Snap On, at least when you compare their premium lines.
