Floor Jacks
I'm considering buying a floor jack and jack stands. How high would i need to get the car off the ground to install LT headers. Would 16" jack stands be high enough to do suspension mods also.

Re: Floor Jacks
A jack and jackstands are something everyone who mods a car should own. Just make sure you get a good quality jack and stands and not just the cheapest ones available. The last thing you need is to be crushed by an f-body.

Re: Floor Jacks
I bought an MVP brand floor jack at my local Advance Auto. It's rated at 5,000 pds and I haven't had any trouble with it since I purchased it.....it was around $50 I believe. If you buy it, take a buddy to help you carry it or at least to help you load it up. I nearly snapped myself in two trying to load it into the back of my Trans Am....

Re: Floor Jacks
I jack the backend up right under the pumpkin on the rearend. I'd be careful not to jack up on the sway bar though...
the front I just jack it up under the front crossmember....
I put my jackstands under the subframe right behind the front wheels, and the subframe right in front of the rear wheels in the back....

I bought this jack (the one on the left)

Will raise the car up to 30" and only needs 3" of clearance.
I have boxed subframes. I put this jack on the subframe and jack the car up NASCAR style ... 1/2 way between the front and rear tires.
