Default 110 Mig Welders

Looking for a nice 110 mig welder, something gas assisted that makes descent welds.

I have a Lincoln WelPak 100 that works nice. It came as a flux core process, but I got the MIG conversion and love it. It won't do 1/4", I think it stops around 14g steel. I know it will weld something as thick as a matress frame not that I was practicing on one...

My Miller 135 stuggles with anything above 3/16".

But that is 99% of everything I weld ...

I have the Lincoln 135 plus. Works okay for sheet metal and up to 1/4" steel pretty good.

Yeah I have a WeldPak 100 too, and its fine for small stuff. I put a set of subframe connectors in a Mustang with it, and it was REALLY struggling...

I think a cheap stick welder is a decent idea if you need to weld heavy gauge metal that the MIG can't handle.

Another vote for the Miller 135. The infinite voltage and speed controls are really convenient for anyone who's not a professional welder.

Do you have it plugged directly into the wall? How about the circuit that it is on? You really shouldnt have a big problem with it welding that stuff.

My lincoln sp-135+ welds like a champ on the 3/16 with a good power supply. I wonder if yours is pulling too much amperage for the circuit you have it plugged into?

If you do use an extension cord, I wouldnt use one longer then 10ft and its needs to be a 10 gauge cord or better. If you need one let me know. I've made a few for folks that are nice and think and doesnt drop the amperage. I only make them in 10 ft lengths though.

Im not too familiar with welders, what would be a good welder that welds 12 gauge stainless and say up to 1/4-1/2 mild steel...I dont want to spend a ton on a welder looking around for the $500 range...What do you guys think about this one and how does it compare to the lincoln Sp-135 plus??

Half inch is too heavy for a 110volt welder. If you plan on welding 1/4 -1/2 you need to get a 220v. Sears is way overrating that welder. The lincon book says 5/16 and lighter for the 135T and 135 plus. The plus is pretty much the same as the T. The Hobarts are nice machines too.

That could be it ... I have it plugged into a 10 guage extension cord but it is a 25 ft. retractable reel and on a 20amp breaker

But, I rarely weld anything larger than 3/16" anyway ...
