Default Arc welders

what can 100 amp weld up to and what can 200 amp weld up to?
i know these are simple questions but yea

its pretty easy stuff that can be gotten off the net but here goes 100 amp by the book you can weld material 1/16 of an inch.
200 amp by the book you cqan weld up to a 1/4 .

That is general for an AC welder. With DC+ you can generally double or even triple the thickness with proper selected rod, such as E6010 for low carbon steel in horizontal position and slow travel. The thickness you can weld this way decreases as the angle becomes steeper, not because of the heat needed but because the weld metal wants to flow, and you have to speed up your travel.

stands corrected....when i looked it up was speaking of a wire feed system....just going by my own experince....uses a wire feed.
