what type of sheet aluminum to buy for intercooler end tanks
i am going to cut up 2 air/water intercoolers that i have and make a comon plenum between the 2. i see they sell aluminum sheets at mcmaster-carr. i will have a pro help me weld it up but for now i need to know what type of sheet to buy and how thick?
is 1/8" about right or should i go thicker?
1100 alloy says it is good for about everything, i have 2 temper option with this alloy. h14 or O(annealed). anyone know which would be best for what i want to do?
i see alloy 6061 is recomended for all purpose use too. would that be a better alloy? it comes in a couple of heat treating options too. they sure have a lot of options.

.100 is more than plenty if boost is kept under 35psi.
Ive helped build an intercooler before that used 1/8inch plate and it was very difficult to work with and made welding it fairly teadeous, but it was for a Tractor Puller that was running 80+psi
