Default 4 post lift ?

I have a Bendpak 12K lbs drive on lift that I got for a steal and was curious if it can be set up outdoors? I have 2 2 car garages but the lifting hieght would be the problem.

Thanks in advance

Bendpak does not recommend it, but I think it is fine as long as you protect the motor, and electrical. I am getting ready to install a bendpak 2 post outside, but I built a shelter for it. Here is a few pics.

San Diego also has a little better climate for "outside storage" than NC...

There are some local shops here that have lifts outside (exhaust and transmission shops). The lifts look beat to hell, but I guess they still work. Keep 'em lubricated, protect the electronics, would probably be OK.

Me, I'd install it indoors anyway, and not worry about taking the car to "full height". Just not having to mess with jacks and jackstands is helpful enough... I don't take my lift all the way up, my garage door gets in the way... but it's still enough room to work.
