Stupid question, I have no Idea what type of oil to use for an air impact wrench. It says oil daily, what oil and where do I put it?

I like Marvel's mystery air tool oil for my air tools...You just drop a little amount down the air nipple and when you hit the trigger the first few times just hold a rag over the exhaust...You dont have to oil daily...It just depends on how often you use them and how dry the air out of the compressor is...

.

I use the basic stuff from Menards or Lowes. As said, 2-3 drops in the inlet. I do every time I use, & every 20-30 minutes if using continuously. Cheaper than new tools.

I bought an oiler that goes after my filter and regulator. It's nice not having to worry about it. I have a quick disconnect after the regulator so that I can remove the oiler and use a different hose when I'm painting.

I bought a cheap oiler from Lowes. I never got it to work right. It kept sucking out all the oil immediately??

^Nice gun, I have a matco, oil daily, I'm a tech though and use it all the time. You can use ATF if your out of oil, I use snap-on oil since hes there every week and I can get it for $7 from him, I think thats the cheapest thing on the snap-on truck. As for my air ratchet though, I oil it before each use. it makes a dig difference running it dry, no tq at all, plus I blew my last snap-on ratchet up from oiling it only once a day, I think something was wrong with it from day 1 though, snap-on must have agreed cause they gave me full credit when I traded it in on a better one.

I have a IR 2135TiMAX and I use the IR oil. Works great in all my air tools. I have a Blue-Point 1" Drive AT1300A and also use the IR oil in it.

It is probably personal preference more then anything.

bet my new makita is just as baddd as your 1400 dolla one! my air one i just drop craftsman oil in it before i use it, never a complaint in 5 years. Those oilers are hit or miss, my craftsman water filter system never filters out the water.. go figure...

We have self oilers at my shop that work alright. The reservoir goes empty about twice a year. it holds a pint of fluid and i've been there 7.5 years and haven't lost an air tool yet!

they are adjustable usually. Look for a small screw in the top "sight" glass of the oiler. It will be maybee an allen head or a smaller flat head. You turn it either direction to increase or decrease the amount of oil flow. You can view the amount of oil its dripping through the sight glass and turn it up or down accordingly. Make sure the cap is on good and it has a good seal, and make sure if there is a water drain that its not leaking by.

The gun pictured isnt one you'd use in the shop its for pit stops....99% of NASCAR teams use the gun pictured The only thing on it from a off the shelf unit is the trigger and motor housing... the hammers a air motor is built by Hurd... tons of porting carbon fiber nose cone... they are way over 650ft lbs and 20k free RPM....plus I have another used just for pitstop practice that never goes to the track
