Default 1979 Pontiac Trans Am - Great Driver ready for an LSx swap!!

Year: 1979
Make: Pontiac
Model: Firebird
Price: $6800
Mileage: 93000
Private or Dealer Listing: Private Listing
Location (State): IL
Color: White
Transmission: Automatic
Drivetrain: Rear Wheel Drive
LS Engine?: Car has LS engine

Update 3/11/2013:
I've been up to my neck with the LS1/4L60e swap in my 1970 GTO, and with house projects, the GTO, and my bike, I just don't see me doing much with the '79, so I'll throw it up for sale again for this spring. The car is currently stored under a cover, in a zip-up car glove, so it is currently not viewable, but will be as soon as the salt is washed off the roads.

Original ad:

1979 Pontiac Firebird Esprit. 301 V8 and TH350 automatic, all #'s match, factory AC and cruise, 97,xxx original miles, very original car down to the stock single exhaust with catalytic converter. White with black interior and T-tops.

This car is a conversion by Cars & Concepts (similar to Regency or Choo Choo Customs today). Aftermarket items from 1979 include:
- Trans Am rear spoiler
- Trans Am splitter exhaust tips
- Rear window louvers
- Chrome trailer hitch >> its a good conversation starter
- Power antenna and Pioneer Super Tuner cassette player
- Shaker hood

Aftermarket items I added in the last 3 years:
- 1987 Trans Am steering wheel
- 17x9 Year One snowflake rims with good tires
- Lowered the car with Bilstein shocks and Eibach front springs

This car is very clean and NEVER HAD ANY RUST or bondo ever. I use it as a nice weather daily driver and it always starts right up. I bought it with plans of an LS1/T56 swap for better DD use, but I just don't see that happening any time soon.

Cons:
- Hole worn in carpet under passenger floor mat (not visible when mat is in place, and otherwise the carpet looks nice.)
- Paint is at least 20+ years old and shows some wear. It is great for a driver (which is why I bought the car), but it would need to be repainted to be a show car.
- AC and cruise is all there, but currently not working.
- Slight exhaust leak from driver side exhaust manifold.

Asking $6,800 obo. Not interested in trades other than towards a nice C5 Vette and please no low *****... I don't need to sell the car. Call or text 309-three seven zero-3209.

What it looked like when I bought it in 2010:

What it looks like now:

100% original rock solid underside:

Original and perfect trunk:

Bottom lip of the driver's door... the passenger side looks the same:

The mighty 301:

All original interior except steering wheel:

The driver seat has some wear, but this pic makes it look a LOT worse than it is in person:

This car is begging for an LS swap and to be driven, not collecting dust. I get thumbs up every time I drive it... now it just needs the power to back up the look. Serious inquiries only, please.

Thanks for looking,

Kyle
