Default IRS conversion in LS1 Camaro

I am looking to get some information on what is needed as well as costs involved in swapping in an IRS rear end in my 02 Camaro. I tried doing a search but i found little that helped. I know there have been threads on this before, but maybe im just not trying the right keywords. Can anyone shed some light on this with some pics, personal experience, or write-ups to get me in the right direction.

I dont have a budget or a time table for this project. Im just doing a little homework for now. I know that IRS is less power than solid rear, but my car isnt going to be a track queen. Im really just trying to get the Camaro to handle better and perhaps have a smoother ride quality.

Waste of time IMO. Aren't you still on your stock shocks/springs? Go get some Konis/stranos and come back after that.

x2. Buy some Koni's and a Watts link and get back to us. It should be cheaper than doing an IRS setup too. Or if you want smooth, just get some cheap Monroe shocks (and optionally, V6 springs). Should ride smooth like an old Caddy!

Well I try sometimes, but really something like that you are gonna spend more money and time than you may want to, I say just buy a comfortable daily driver.

It isn't exactly for nothing.... It would show a significant improvement in handling, but mostly it's just a look-what-I-can-do mod.

Well i would want to go with something that is going to give me improved handling for the price. Most people have said that the swap is expensive, but just how expensive are we talking here?

just throw it out there in the suspension section. i'd imagine besides the cost of the vette parts, someone's going to want to get PAID for the fabrication work

Id get the strano/koni setup and see how you like it first.

Ive looked into buying a c4 rear for my 55 chevy truck and found prices in the $1500 dollar range. I decided instead to install a four-link using the 9" that is already there.

So figure $1500 for the rear, at least $1500 to install it, and you have something that nat many people do.How do you know that after you install it it wont ride like ****? Then you dont even have the option on asking others what shocks work well with the setup.

IMO its just a waste. 02NBMWS6 has been getting his car setup for road racing and is really happy with the strano/koni setup, maybe send him a pm and ask his opinion.
