Default Let me get ur guys opinion: Heads/ 243s, or after market??

Ok, im building a ls1 for road/drift. There isnt really a budget but i dont want to over power the car.Im pretty greedy when it comes to hp thats why i was considering AFRs.

But the motor is 1998. Should i just work with some 241 heads? or jump it up to 243? i heard the 243s can give you more rpm which is always good. Anything more they benefit??

Or is it worth to get the AFRs or trick flows???

ported edelbrocks seem to be a fair compromise between afr's and tfs, they do make great power and a little cheaper, but, it also depends on what camshaft your choosing, if its a road course car/ drift car i would imagine a cam that makes power and torque down low would be optimal, something like a 224/228, but if you stick with a cam that small aftermarket heads would really not be the best choice, ported and milled 243's can flow about 310 on the intake, and be milled down.

Just do a cnc'd set of 243's with a 232/234 cam. The 243s are cheap, and have sodium filled valves, and you can always step up to Edelbrocks or TFS heads in the future

yea i was thinking that choice also.. doesnt Texas Speed have some ported 243s or something?

I'd say look into getting some cnc'd 243's and a 228R cam.

no avoid texas speed, just pick some up of a local that are in good shape and take them down to west coast cylinder head in reseda,

If this is a road course car, put on some stock 243's and an LS6 cam. Also depending on how light the car is going to be, a big cam can make for a slow car exiting corners and keeping the car in the powerband will be a pain in the ***. Also check to see what the rules are for the class you plan on racing in, some do not allow engine modifications so 243's and a ls6 cam will be easy to hide.
