Default Got a modified exhaust ticket

On my car that is registered in Colorado in a county that doesn't require emissions. What do you guys think the best course of action is here? I'm planning on fighting it.

I'm hoping not. Was thinking if he had a db reading I could get a ticket for that but not just modified.

just show up to the court showing your registration is in another state, and thank them for wasting your time.

I'm not sure about the db law. Probably 80db which I'm over.

I thought it was around 100. If your over i recommend you get a quieter system and get it checked by the ref.

I'm pretty sure you wont be able to fight it regardless of what state your registered in, CRS states that there can be no modification of exhaust systems from factory standards, period. And add to the point it is for a "MODIFIED (not NOISY) exhaust", they dont technically have to have a db reading to ticket you for it. Be glad you didnt get an excessive noise ticket on top of that as well.

Besides, dont you have that GMMG catback anyway? Just pay it and move on.

I once received a ticket for failing to register my dd in CA within 30 days of it being in the state. Keep that in mind. I was able to get my ticket dropped by telling the judge that the car was back out of state, that might work. They arent going to care what CO law is

unless the cop shows up at court with a db reading showing that your car is to loud then they can't do ****. Trust me on that one. When I was stationed in San Diego I got about 5 modified exhaust tickets in a period of three years. if they can't prove it they can't fine you for it.

What was the vehicle code violation number? Look it up on line or at the library. And see what it says you violated. Then make your defence around what the code says.

I hope this is true. What did the judge say in court when you went to fight it?

If you're not registered in CO you don't need to smog it. Further, CO is phasing out smog testing in much of the front range. It's only being continued in places like Denver that have big smog problem. Ft Carson is south of Colorado Springs. I don't recall if the Springs is still smoging or not, but 20-30 mins south of Ft Carson are Penrose (if you like rural), Canon City (about 50K pop), Pueblo (100K) and Pueblo West (30K, 8 m W of Pueblo), none of which smog.
The exhaust generally is not a problem. If it is, put in something other than the open plate. I've never had an issue with my 383 running an SLP loudmouth. My son did get a ticket once, in my 408 stroker-equiped Ram. We'd been offroading and damaged the exhaust, and had to disconnect it. It was running open header. He got pulled over for speeding, and they added a noise ticket.

My lady got pulled over in oakland for tinted windows on her mini which is legal in oregon.
She is registered in oregon
has oregon plates
has a oregon drivers license
has oregon insurance

The courts would not through out the ticket and she had to pay the fine.
