Default Need C5 ZO6 information : AZ

Hey guys, I have a few general, and not so general questions about C5 Z06s

First off, I have been looking around on the various car sale websites for Z06 pricing, but it seems to be all over the place as far as getting something with low miles.

What is a fair price for say, a black Z06 wtih ~40k miles on it?

Also, does anyone know what stock Z06s are trapping here in AZ (maybe even firebird specifically), and what E/T they are usually hitting (stock)?

Basically, just wondering how well they perform stock with this heat and elevation.

Thanks

get a loan for 25k and take it to a track and tell us what a stock ZO will trap. (preferrably firebird)

I would tell you to search but someone after me will. Get the car and make it run what you want it to.

I've researched prices, and I have a pretty good idea of what they are worth, but track times... those are literally all over the place.

Was mainly wondering what they do stock... That is all

Mine will probably never see the track because I want to build a car for a standing mile / highway run type thing, so I'm just trying to get a feel for baseline performance. Also, curious for 1/4 performance by itself too, but Arizona specifically.

Also, not jail bait in the sig

Just depends on how well you can drive a manual. Vettes are tricky in the quarter mile.

With a decent drive they will run mid 12's in good weather consistently. Maybe an 11 or two here and there.

Thank you

That's mainly what I was trying to get at. So they can break 11s up here in AZ land stock, and that's really all I needed to know

Is it fair to say they trap 117 pretty consistently?

It is possible, yes.

110-117 is a safe guesstimate.

No way will a stock Z06 run an 11 even with tires. Stock youll see mid to high 12's (12.5-12.8) average, MPH not sure but should be 115 or so. Suspension on those cars prefers a road coarse but still tons of fun to drive in the 1/4... with practice. You should see them in the $20-27,000 depending on mileage and condition. A 2002-2004 Z06 with 40k miles will still fetch $22-27,000.

a guy here in phoenix ran an 11.97 in a bone stock 04 Z.. during the winter in badass DA, it can be done.. ive heard traps up to 118 mph also..

if youre looking around here, probably not alot of great deals. if youre willing to travel, ive heard of em for 20k with less than 30k miles.

Thanks for all the replys guys

I don't think I care which year it is, mainly because it would be getting a different head/cam setup to suit the forced induction route. Unless different years had significant differences in suspension (I don't think that's likely). I was basically concerned with how much stock power it took to move that light weight of a car around. I personally have never seen them go 11s, but knowing it's possible is good enough

This is going to be a fun graduation gift to myself from left over scholarship
cash, so I don't plan on getting rid of my z28 (don't worry Dakota )

I would have to disagree. I dont believe that a factory stock C5Z will break into the 11's. Even with slicks and a driver mod. Low 12's is a believeable stretch, but not into the 11's.

We'll say its very rare and unlikely. The OP should know what to expect. Ive seen a ton of Z's run and a high 11 is a great feat. Not typical though.

Its pretty unheard of. Plus you never know, some guys have tuned cars that are bone stock and that might give them that little extra umph to get there. Very hard to do. I stated an average.

These are records, the norm is around mid 12s.

Expect to pay around 22-27 for around 40k miles. The condition of different cars can vary quiet a bit even with similar mileage.

Thank you for the list

I'm skeptical on those times being achieved in a desert track like Firebird or Speedworld though.

Is a C5Z in the 11s analogous to an f-body in the 12s, each bone stock?
