Default LS7 - fbody install & tune experts

Down the road, I'm thinking about doing an LS7 crate motor drop-in into my 1998 Trans Am A4. Can you gurus name some shops in Southern California that have done such installs?

Thanks!

It would be much easier to build a LS2 402 IMO which should net you around 500 RWHP give or take. Plus pretty much everything will work in your exsisting setup for the LS2. I think there is much more parts, work and money involved in the LS7 swap.

I would also go for a built LS2 because you are saving a good bit and getting the same result.

CMS seems to have pretty good experience with LS7s and ive seen them putting together dry sump setups like the LS7 uses, id only go to them.

unless youre a hardcore road racer, go the built LS2/LS3 route. the dry sump would complicate things.

CMS can handle it. Ryne owns a 08 Z06 and recently they built a Forged LS7 with a YSI blower for a 08 Z06 almost 900 rwhp!

With the relector wheel issues your not going to just be able to drop in a LS7. Forged and stroked Ls2-Ls3 would be the way go for same to more power for 1/2 the price and a stronger motor!

O2nbmws6 made over 565 rwhp on his 403. My nitrous 403 made 560 rwhp 480tq N/a With pump gas and 780 rwhp on pump gas with a 150 shot! You will save money going with a ls2/lq4-9 block. What are your plans for power, do you want it all na? How much power do you want? Is this your daily or only for stip use?

Honestly you're asking for trouble with all those posts and your other thread.

Thanks all for the posts.

I'm a damn wuss now at my old age of 37! I just want OEM refinement and 120-122 mph trap speed potential out of this A4 and a 2.73:1 OEM rear end (I figure 427cid will give me the green light to go 2.73:1 from my 3.23:1 and still have decent launch capabilities). The bonus is highway fuel mileage will likely be better than now. Refinement and speed cost money.

I turn 37 next week and actually it sounds like you need a supercharger! Mpg won't be that great with a ls7 but pretty good with a LS2 or even LS1 with a blower and about 600 rwhp!

Thanks for the great tip.

Alas, damn 91 octane Cali gas here scares me with boost and sitting in gridlock in occasional drives into the SF valley at 105 deg F...unless I drop CR a lot.

Lake Elsinore...isn't Manton pushrods near there?
