Default T56 help

ok so when i bought my t56 the guy told me it had troubles goin into 3rd and 4th. when the trans was dry it was ok but when i added fluid thats when i saw that it does have trouble goin into 3rd and 4th. now my question is....

Does it sound like its just synchros?

i got a quote from a local trans shop that ive used before, he said $225 for labor and then whatever parts is. anyone on here know anybody cheaper and might know what it is so i know how much money to get?

i dont have much money at the moment (unemployment) but i need to finish the car so i have something to drive. this is pretty much the only thing holding me up.

Man IDK but the best thing to do is post this up in the manual tranny section. Maybe they can give you an answer and someone here can probably help you get a good deal....

225 for labor is a damn good price but i hope he knows what he is doing (almost too cheap)
as far as parts go try to find a junk t56 and use part from it (i got one with decent internals for 100 $)

most of the time worn syncros are not the problem with shifting issues but usually do need replacing

i would be prepared to need all new blocker rings(syncros) a bearing kit and at least 3rd gear 4 gear(which is also the input shaft which is expensive)and a slider assembly

but honestly you will never know until its apart

ill probably drop it off to him and ask him if i can pay him when i get the money. ive known this guy for a while and were pretty kool. last time he rebuilt my trans i didnt have a way to take it home so he threw it in the back of his brand new white escalade.
