They are all rip offs.

Sorry to hear about your problem. I'm surprised that MBUSA wouldn't take responsibility.
The only way I can own my three Benzes is because I work on them myself. The Stealership is only for parts I can't find mail order. I can't remember the last time I let them work on one of my cars.
The alignment was last month or a year ago?? I'm on some Benz forums that might be able to help here.

all car makers suck for one reason or another....this is why gm sucks...camaro is brought in for the tsb on the roof bubbling. dealer states that it is a manufacturer defect in the laminate of the roof. given the number to gm corp. claim denied b/c of mileage when the dealer states that mileage was not a factor. I will never by another gm again. just be happy your driving a benz.

If you can get out of a Mercedes service bay for under $500, it's surprising. $1,000 is more normal. But... these are fabulous cars and if you don't do the maintenance, like any machine, they don't work well. The newer Benz's are Very expensive - $500 brake jobs are common, the electronic/air front struts are $1,400 each, and don't ask what it costs to repair one of the seven (7) computers in the car.
I have three 1987 Mercedes, one 560SEL (4-door) and two of the 560SEC's (2-door coupe). The lowest mileage is an SEC at 192,000, the SEL is at 252,000 miles and they run GREAT. I just drove back to Vegas from Phoenix last weekend and really had problems keeping the SEC under 80mph. It is soooo easy to do 100mph in these cars!!
One nice thing is that these cars have been extremely well engineered and they are designed to be able to come apart. Not much is welded/crimped together, most of it disassembles, which a DIY'r like me appreciates.
