ok like title says my brother blew the tranny on his 97 tahoe v8 4x4 and one of his buddies insist that the tranny i have in my garage that came out of my 99 transam will fit what do u guys think he thinks by changing the bellhousing and the tail lol bare with me

What about the input shaft?

The output shaft on the 4x4 tranny is shorter. It won't work unlees you completely disassemble the trans and swap it out. The input is the same.

Exactly...the trans that is behind my buddy's LQ4 swapped in his '97 z28 had to have the output shaft converted. We had it done at Xtreme Transmission. If you know the trans is good, it might be worth it to him to have it converted...

Or he can even find a 700r4 for a 4x4 and slap it on. My brothers 60e in his 4x4 full size blazer gave out and he got a 700r4 and it went on exsactly the same.
