Default Key Fob not working... Stuck in San Diego!

I'm out here visiting SD, 3 hours from home, and I can't unlock and disable the alarm. The car isn't responding to the key fob even with a new battery. Is there any way of getting around this? The alarm will go off if I key it open, right? Any help would be much appreciated!

Use the key,the alarm will turn off when you turn the ignition key on.

From what I remember, if the factory alarm is armed and you don't disable it, but you unlock the door with the key only without deactivating the alarm, the alarm will go off audibly until you get in and start the car, and then it will disable.

open the door with your key. Start the car. The alarm will go off, but you can start the car... and the alarm will stop.

Turns out all I needed to do was resync (press lock/unlock simultaneously) and after also cleaning the contacts, the key fob works like it's brand new.
