Default Cali emssions legal cam.

Whats the biggest cam that will still pass emissions here in Cali? Looking into a '00 SS from Ohio but its cammed with full exhaust. Custom grind cam but put down 378RWHP through a 6speed.

Complete Mods are
Has a custom grind cam, new billet flywheel, Centerforce DFX cluch, new slave cylinder with clutch, Patriot gold valve springs, Slp loudmouth exhaust, Pro 5.0 shifter, pacesetter long tube headers, off road y-pipe, car was tunned at Precision autosports out of Dayton with H.P. tuners software and made 378 rwhp
I'm waiting for him to get back to me with the cam specs. What are the chances of it being able to pass smogged without to much trouble. Visual shouldn't be too hard but the sniffer is a different story. and I don't have a hook up.

Well idk bout the cam but you wont pass visual for sure (unless a friend is doing it) Having cats on the car would definitely help the sniffer test though.

Got to be careful though cause if you get sent to a "state referee" your screwed.

All stock parts so it can be put back to stock but rather not have to. I was just curious if a car in that power range could even pass the sniffer. I could always throw on a cat to make it legal besides headers. I know I'll be able to get a better answer once I get the specs. Just wanted a general idea. Car is clean.

Maybe not the cam you're looking for, but the cheaterV3 should also pass.

I've heard of a few 226's and a 228 passing.

I've heard the largest is like a 228R cam... but that's with an excellent tuner who knows what he's doing...

as long as the tune is good you can get a 224/224 on 112 to pass a 224/228 on 114 or a 228/228 on 116 from what i have read, i have no first hand experience though.

Must people go with a 224/224 on 114 for smog those pass all the time with flying colors.
