Cutout questions Sup guys, I just bought a z28 and it has a flowmaster and a cutout.The flowmaster is way too quiet for me and I'm wondering if any of you have any experience running a cutout with stock manifolds in california. Does it affect gas mileage? With the stock manifolds/cutout is it insanley loud?(I don't want it too loud) Just wondering because I might unbolt the cap after I smog the car.

when i had my FBody i had a cutout and it was open all the time. It wasnt that loud, or wasnt too loud at least. At WOT though the LS1 has a rasp that doesnt sound too good, but despite that, the added power of the less restrictive cutout was worth it.On my galaxie, i drive on the streets with the cutouts closed because it is obnoxiously loud with them open.

i bought my stock z28 with no catback!
just ended at the y-pipe it was loud but drivable. only thing i hated was the extra vibration it got when cruising in the freeways.
only reason i put a catback was to pass smog
