Default WTF!!! Johannes Mehserle found not guilty...?!

There was a video for crying out loud! "There was insufficient evidence to convict the defendant of first-degree murder in the death of Oscar Grant III". Has anyone else been following this?

yea this is bullshit. I have ben following this since like last year. My girl and some class mates participated in this lil rally type thing in reaction to the incident. A 45 or a 9 whatever cop carry does not feel like a tazer at all. judicial system is wack , if he wasn't a cop and shot him in the video he would of went str8 to jail.

I thought first degree murder had to be deliberate and premeditated. I don't see that from the video. It looks like a horrible accident and he should go to jail for a long time. But it doesn't look like murder 1 to me...

So what cop rolls around with his safety off? I dont think tazers have the identical safety to a hand gun do they? Maybe not murder one, but he needs to see the inside of a cell.

I think that quite a few guns don't have safetys. I know my Sig P226 NAVY doesn't.

Link to said video.

police officers guns do have safetys and they are required to have them because the police pull their weapons all the time for intemidation reasons.. try getting pulled over in LA or oakland for anything as simple as a traffic violation and theres like a 80 percent chance your gonna get pulled out of the car with a gun in your face especially if your of color. if they didnt have safetys imagine all the "accidental" shootings.. only federal agents dont have safetys because when they pull their guns they pull them to use them

Not true. The standard issue weapon of the LAPD is now the Glock 22 in .40cal, which like every other Glock does not have a safety. However officers are able to carry different weapons from an approved firearms list which includes weapons equipped with a safety, and those without.

I have been following up on this and was sure he wouldn't be convicted of 1st degree murder. He will most like be charged with voluntary manslaughter.

This article does a decent job explaining the difference between the level of charges if anyone is interested.

Funny how officers can pull their gun unprovoked but if a private citizen pulls their gun in fear of their life it's a felony.

Um, where did you hear this load of silliness?

The Glock line of pistols are one of the most common service pistols for police forces, and none of them have any external safeties, only the internal and trigger safeties. But pretty much all pistols these days have firing pin breaks, so that's nothing special. Sig-Sauer firearms are popular carry weapons too and most have no external safeties as well.

Quite an oddball first post on a car forum, but I saw this and had to comment. It's amazing the kinds of bullcrap people think is true.
