Default My 404ci turbo build w/ Millions of pics!

So now that Ive been meeting more of you guys at meets and whatnot, I figure I would make a build thread on what ive been doing to my car over the past year. Its been a long project, which took twice as long and cost 4 times as much as I thought, but it has been an amazing learning experience and a ton of fun!

I now have a sticky in the Forced Induction section!! Check it out for a lot more photos & info on how I made the turbo Kit. Right here -> https://ls1tech.com/forums/forced-in...ifold-kit.html

You might have seen my Ebay-turbo kit thread..... well that kit did this to my stock 80k mile engine:

I cracked the sleeves in 2 cylinders, broke 4 pistons, and bent 3 rods when i overboosted to 15psi

At that point I decided to do it ALL over again the RIGHT way, regardless of how much it cost. I decided to go with a 6.0L iron block, bored and stroked to 404ci (apx. 6.7L)

Specs:
Iron 6.0 block .010" over
4" forged eagle crank
forged eagle rods
Mahle -12cc forged turbo pistons
Custom Comp Cam
Edelbrock Pro-Port heads with a full CNC by west coast racing cylinder heads
LS9 head gaskets
ARP Studs everywhere
fully balanced and clearanced
edelbrock Vic Jr intake, elbow, & TB
78mm Turbonetics Hurricane turbo
Turbosmart 50mm WG
Griffin Radiator good for 1000hp
edelbrock waterpump
2 Spal 10" fans

Block back from the machine shop! Bored to 4.010", light deck to ensure flatness, align hone main bearings w/ ARP studs, and teflon paint to keep tho oil from sticking.

4" forged crank being installed with Clevite bearings and ARP main studs w/ ARP Ultra-torque lube.

Mahle -12cc turbo pistons with forged rods & ARP rod bolts installed. ARP head studs as well

Heres the real eye candy! Edelbrock Pro-Port heads with a full CNC by Richard Reyman @ West Coast Racing Cylinder Heads. 215cc runner with 74cc chambers. Patriot dual springs shimmed by Richard specifically for my cam and turbo specs

LS9 7-layer MLS head gaskets under the heads

BMR Turbo K-member

Welded holes, grinded, bondo'd etc.... getting ready for the engine to drop in!

question about your ebay kit
- did you buy a whole kit or just the hot parts that everybody usually buys?
- what kind of wastegate did you have on it?
- and who tuned it
only reasons i ask is if you had just ebay hot parts then that should have not cause the over boost a cheap or faulty wastegate would usually causes a overboost and who ever was tuning it should have prepared(conservative tuning) and or been aware of a overboost unless of coarse it did not happen on a dyno lol

im not trying to criticize or be mean i just want to know so i can know of things to stay away from

I bought the whole kit, and it was due to a faulty wastegate. It happened while on the freeway
