Cams
I have a 2003 chevy silverado with 5.3. I have A 4180 tranny behind it. The computer has been flashed to a 6.0 truck tune.. I'm looking for a good stock replacement cam. Im putting 241 ls1 heads on it the heads have ten thousannts taken off.. The truck is a pre runner daily driver.. I have done some looking on the Internet and I see the ls6 or zo6 cam being used. I was told I would lose all my bottom running this cam.. If anyone can help thank you.. I'm new to the whole building the motor so any help will help. Thank you

And it's on 37 tires and the gear ratio is 5.29. Have dyno flow muffler 3 inch intake and hyper tech programer. I don't know if any of this matter.. Sorry if I posted this in the wrong section. New to the site

I don't think you should be flashing it to a 6.0 tune. You need an actual dynotune. Sell your Hypertech. Swapping the heads to some milled 241's seems like a lot of effort for minimal gains. Not sure what kind of budget you are working with, but try to pick up some stock 243 heads at least to make the head swap beneficial, ported 243's would be even better. Get yourself a better cam as well. A nice custom grind would be a much better choice over a LS6 cam. Hopefully you already have a good intake and exhaust.

The 6.0 rune is for the tranny the 4160 has one speed sensor and the 4180 has too. SO yOu have to flash the computer to power the second speed sensor. I've had this swap for. While and it the only way to make it run unless you spend the 2000 on the stand alon computer.. I got the heads for free And the work done for free too so that why I'm going this way.. I'm not looking for huge gain just a little more.. I have the zo 6 valve springs I just don't know what cAm it is. I gues their is 3 different one. I know I can't use the 7.0 but there is still the 6.0 and the 5.7

run the 5.3 tune, but load up the 4L80e Segment... the proper way to do it... the ls6 cam makes the 5.3's lazy down low in my opinion... it was designed for a relatively high reving ls6 engine, the intake manifold design of your truck is not right for it... your better of with a better aftermarket cam speced for your needs, especially with the 4l80e trans and its tall 2.4 first gear versus the 4l60e lower 3.06 first gear.... stay with the 5.3 heads, no point to swap to the 241's for minimal gains if at all....

Ok so what should I get that would be best. Everyone I've talked to said I'll get about 6O hp out of doing this. They say the cam start at about 2000 rpm. The truck is not a dragster so I don't need the cam at 600 rpms
