Jack your car up by the pumpkin and rotate the wheels once, count the number of times the driveshaft yoke turns

Perform a burnout on a kitty cat, note the amount of tenderization of the flesh.

Use the guide below

2.73: little tearing of the flesh, cat survives
3.23: some tearing, greater bloodloss, but majority of skin still intact, cat may survive
3.42: 50/50 on skin removal/remaining, also on chance of survival
4.10: most of the skin has been removed, like pulling your pants down, the skin may still be attached at the ankles, high probability of death
4.56: the cat is skinned, no muscle attached to the bone, DOA

Open up the case and and mark it the turn the gear and how ever many time the yoke spins to the ring gear is your gear. So if your yoke spins five time you have 5. 0. And so on

People have already posted solutions. Count the times the yoke rotates when you rotate the wheel one full turn, or check the RPO codes. Look and see if there's a sticker somewhere on the rear end housing, and Google the sticker ID number to see if it's a part number.

If you open it up, you can try to look at the pinion gear for the numbers scribed into it, which should be ARRANGED like this:
1 GM 3910823 15 41 4 02
The first part "1 CM 3910823" you can ignore, and the last two sets of numbers "4 02" you can ignore. The ones that you'd want to pay attention to are the "15 41". Take the last two digits (41) and divide them by the first two digits (15). That will tell you the gear ratio. In this case, 41 / 15 = 2.73.

Look at that overly long list the post above yours and pick it out.

GU6 Axle Ratio 3.42, Rear

That's what the car came with originally. If you know the gears haven't been touched, that's what they are. If they have been messed with, other ways to determine gear ratio were posted in this thread.
