Default 98 SS black, need paint any suggestions?

I bought my car about a year ago and it has a bunch of scratches and buffer marks on it from the previous owner, and he put a body kit on it so i'm left with the 3m tape that i tried my best to take off but it's still there. Anywho I'm looking to get my car painted but I'm on a budget, just paid $3600 in tuition for school this semester. Anyone know of a good painter in the valley?

your cheapo maco job came out good?..I got one a long time ago (Maaco) on a 86 Z28 ..cost me 500 bucks and it was defenitaley one of those "you get what you pay for" situations. I regreted that paint job and I'm not picky but it was TOTAL ****. Maybe you got lucky lol

Their results, from what I read, are hit orr miss for sure, but it came with a 4 year warranty and I figured for $150/year or $12.50/month my car deserved it.

It deserves better, but my pocket book didn't agree and ultimately won that battle.

I really advise against MAACO. i had them do some work for me years ago and it started to chip within weeks. When i brought it back they refused to honor the warranty.

Best way to save money on paint is to do the prep work yourself. you might want to research online for techniques before jumping into it.

when you say central valley do you mean central california? I know a good guy in "the valley" who primarily works on exotics and does great work.

I've got a guy (my neighbor actually) doing my Camaro, tri coat and all, going back to bare metal and all. Cleaning up after the last maaco job done by the previous owner. I can get you his number. He does it as a side thing primarily for friends (and neighbors ), but you should see all the performance cars and lowriders coming in and out of his driveway (he paints at an actual shop in Anaheim, but does performance stuff local). Likes CPL primers and PPG paint, if that matters to you.
