Default So-Cal Hero/pioneer Passes Away

Saw sad news today in the L.A. Times that Big Willie Robinson passed away. He was well known in the Los Angeles area for his work in preventing gang violence and being instrumental in getting street racers of all races and ages a safe place to pursue their love of drag racing. That place was the Brotherhood Raceway Park on Terminal Island.

My first experiences on a supervised drag strip were their and it continues to be a passion in my life to this day. Just wanted to say thanks to him for the hard work and dedication he did so that other people dreams could become reality.

Thank you Big Willie!

I got a chance to make a few passes at Brotherhood back in the day a year before they shut down. Acturally saw Big Willie once at the track. He did a lot to help the SoCal racers during late 70's to 90's.

Godspeed to Big Willie!
